About the Author

Andrew P Weston was born in the city of Birmingham, UK and grew up in the towns of Bearwood and Edgbaston, eventually attending Holly Lodge Grammar School for Boy’s where he was School Captain and Head Boy.
He was an active sportsperson for the school and a variety of rugby, martial art, swimming, and athletics teams throughout the city.
On graduation in 1977, he joined the Royal Marines and served in a number of roles both in the UK and abroad.
In 1985 he joined the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, serving as a police officer in a variety of uniformed and plain clothed departments until his retirement in 2008.
Over those years, he wrote and illustrated a selection of private books for his children regarding the life of a tiny kitten, called, “The Adventures of Willy Whiskers”, gained further qualifications in Law and Religious Studies, was an active member of Mensa and continued to be an active sportsperson, providing lessons free of charge to local communities.
An unfortunate accident received on duty meant Andrew had to retire early from the police force, but after moving to the sunny Greek island of Kos to speed up his recuperation, he was at last able to devote time to the “Guardian Concept” he had developed over his years in the military and police.
When not writing, Andrew enjoys Greek dancing and language lessons, being told what to do by his wife, Annette, and hunting shadows in the dark. He has not managed to catch any yet, but is sure he came close on 2 occasions.

Morrigan by Laura Deluca Cover Reveal Giveaway!

Welcome to the Morrigan Cover Reveal Giveaway, sponsored by Author Laura DeLuca, Mom to Bed by 8, The Sisters Elemental, The Whimsical Pixie, Crones Magical Crafts / Moonwise Creationz, and New Age Mama! This is a giveaway filled with magic and we're sure you will enjoy walking through the land of Tír Na nÓg with our heroine and all her supporters.  To start off the fun, lets share a little about the YA novel, Morrigan, which is due to be released by Pagan Writers Press on October 31st, 2012!

Morrigan Blurb

Shuffled from place to place in the foster system, Morrigan doesn't know the meaning of home. Plus, she is different. She has power over fire, the ability to move objects with her mind, and glimpse into the future. Just when she believes her life can’t get any stranger, she discovers her true identity.

Filtiarn, a knight with a dark past and a surprising secret, has been tasked with guiding the heir of Tír Na NÓg through countless perils to be returned to her family. Once Morrigan has been reunited with her mother and grandmother, their triad can save the forgotten land of magic from being devoured by an ancient evil.

Morrigan Excerpt
Morrigan took out a white candle and a stick of dragon blood incense, and set them up in the corner of the room. She sat cross-legged, and leaned forward to light them. No matches were necessary.  No lighter either. She simply touched her finger to the end of the wick, and with an iridescent spark, the candle flickered to life.  It shone at first with a bright blue flame that gradually settled into a more normal orange. It was the same with the incense—another reason why she preferred not to have an audience.
She stared into the candle for a moment, and took a few deep breaths to clear her mind of all thoughts but those of the magic she intended to perform. Danu and Dagda sat on either side of her, instantly falling into silence, as though they knew she needed her complete concentration. Their energy beside her only seemed to add to the every growing sense of power that charged the room.
Morrigan closed her eyes and began to shuffle the cards. As she did, she allowed her breathing to become more even. A silence filled the room as the rest of the mortal world fell away. Soon the only sound she heard was the light thump of her own heartbeat, echoed by the quicker, fast paced beat of the cats’ hearts. She wasn’t sure how much time passed as the cards slipped through her fingers. It might have been minutes. It might have been hours. When she allowed herself to fall into a trace, time became insubstantial, irrelevant.
The tarot cards were so old; the designs on the back were almost completely worn away. She had to shuffle gently to keep them from crumbling to pieces in her hands. Yet they held a power that she knew no newer cards could ever offer. As she shuffled them, she focused her energy into them, silently requesting to be given the answers she was seeking.  She allowed the image of her mother to fill her mind. When she finally felt the cards had fallen into the order they were meant to be in, she placed the deck face down on the floor, and cut them with her right hand. Then, taking one last, calming breath, she lifted the top card from the pile. With a trembling hand, she laid it down and read it.
“Wheel of Fortune,” she said aloud.
In the center of card was a wheel. As she stared at the picture, that wheel seemed to start turning clockwise. The movements made her feel slightly dizzy. The bedroom around her became more and more surreal.  The scene on the card became her reality. The figure of the sphinx that sat on top of the turning wheel looked so very real. It might have turned its head to look at her. Its lips may or may not have moved. But Morrigan swore she heard a deep, resonating voice whispering the meaning of the card into her ear. Destiny approaching. An unexpected and sudden change was coming—change that could lead to good fortune.
It was the card of fate and karma returned. It meant that she needed to be prepared—to expect the unexpected. Morrigan knew the cards were telling her something was going to happen—and soon. Her destiny, whatever it was, was about to be realized. Even if it did bring with it fortune of some kind, it still scared her to death. So much so, she considered packing up the cards right then and there. Her rational mind had every intention of doing just that. The problem was, her hands didn’t get the message her brain was sending them. Before she knew what she was doing, she had already flipped over the second card.
“The Empress,” she whispered. She exhaled deeply. “My mother.”
It was the only interpretation imaginable. Even as she said it, the pregnant woman, crowned with stars and adorned in a gown decorated with pomegranates, turned to her and smiled. No longer the vague featureless stranger that was there just a moment ago, but the same woman she had sketched earlier that day—a face that mirrored her own. It was an older version of herself, which she saw in the reflection in the nearby full length mirror, had turned chalk white.
The Empress was a symbol of maternal power—of a strong feminine influence. But could it mean…did she even dare to hope that her mother was returning? She had never allowed herself to consider such a possibility. To dwell on something so unlikely would have been too painful.  But now, with just the flip of a card, she found herself daring to dream it might be so. There was only one way to find out for sure. She had to keep going with the reading.
     “Six of Cups.”
The third card in the spread represented her past, and even her immediate present. The six of cups specifically symbolized childhood, and she was, technically, still a child. But she had a feeling that her childhood was about to end quite abruptly. The cups in the picture were lined up across a high, stone wall, each cup holding the memories of her past.
Her past. It was nothing but a childhood filled with longing—longings which were perhaps about to be fulfilled.  She visualized herself taking each cup down from the wall, and pouring the troubling memories away. It was time to start fresh. A new world was about to open up for her. She had known it as soon as she had seen the image of her mother’s face. But what would that world be like? What was waiting for her in the future?
Morrigan turned over the fourth card.
     “The Knight of Wands.”
The man on the horse carrying the staff had her baffled. Not because she didn’t know its normal meaning, but because as she stared at the card, it began to take on the physical attributes of the knight in her drawings.  He had the same long dreadlocks, the same bewitching stare, even the same cocky smile. It was not at all the blank face that was nearly worn away from time that should been staring back at her. Yet, the familiarity did not cancel out the meaning of the card. The knight of wands was representative of a dark man filled with a kind of honey-tongued charm. He was also fiery and arrogant, a man with a definite possibility of a dark side. If the knight of wands was coming into her life, she knew she needed to proceed with caution.
She thought she was done with the fourth card, and was preparing to move on to the next, when once again, she found she had lost control of her own body. This time, her hands refused to move, while her eyes forced their way back to the knight in the card. She watched as the longhaired stranger began to move forward—wondering over various landscapes—some high mountains, some meadows and fields ripe for the harvest. He kept looking back over his shoulder, as though he were speaking to someone. He was on a journey, and he wasn’t alone. Morrigan didn’t need to see his companion to know who it must be.
So, her journey would soon begin, and she wouldn’t be traveling alone. She would have a guide. Whether or not that would be a good thing was another question best left to the cards to answer. However, the next card told her nothing she didn’t already know.
      “The Moon,” she said. “Caution.”
It was a scary card. It warned of tricks and illusions. The two howling wolves that stood under the moon looked back at her menacingly, growling, showing their pointed fangs in a snarl.  For the first time since she began the reading, Danu and Dagda made their presence known by lifting their heads and hissing threateningly in the direction of the beasts.
Even the cats sensed it. The journey she was about to embark on wouldn’t be all fun and family reunions. There would be obstacles and deceit, most likely from people she though could be trusted. The moon was a sign that danger was certainly awaiting her. In was an ominous omen.
      “Shhhh.”
She hushed the still hissing cats, and gave them each a gentle stroke to try to settle them down, though she was far from settled herself. Again she felt the urge to stop the spread. Her instincts were telling her that no good was going to come out of this reading. That she was only going to scare herself. She should never have done it in the first place. When would she learn that sometimes it was best to just let life play out without interference or prophetic warnings? Then again, she knew that to be forewarned might be her only advantage. So with more bravery than she felt, Morrigan flipped over the final card.
“No…” she gasped when she looked down at the terrible, skeletal face.  “Oh no…”
She should have known. She thought perhaps a part of her did know even before she glanced down at the gruesome scene—a skeleton with a scythe in a field of body parts. With the divination going in the direction it was, what else could be the final outcome?
     “Death,” she whispered. “Death.”
She knew that in most cases, the death card was more a symbol of personal transformation than literal death. But a deeper sense of understanding told her that this time the card was meant to be taken literally. She saw only glimpses and shadows in her mind. Brief flashes of faces, some familiar, like her mother and the knight—some still strangers, like a beautiful, almost angelic blonde woman in a flowing white gown. But around them all, including herself, she saw the shadows of death. Someone would die. That was certain. Whether that person was Morrigan or someone else, neither the cards nor her sixth sense was willing to reveal.
Morrigan felt decidedly shaky as she gathered up her tarot cards. She placed them securely in the bottom of her bag just as she heard the door downstairs slam shut. The reading hadn’t made everything as crystal clear as she had hoped, but one thing was certain. She would soon be leaving on a journey—a journey that would undoubtedly end in death.

The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses “Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be revealed.

 Destiny
Available for only $.99 in e-book format or $14.95 for print version on Amazon.

Gabriella is a witch. The problem is, she doesn't remember. She repressed the memories of her powers years ago when her mother was murdered. Now, the warlock who was responsible for her mother's death has set his sights on Gabriella. He is determined to use her fear to turn her to the dark side of magick…even if it kills her. Her mother's spirit is reaching out to warn her, but even that she pushes away. Desperate to save her daughter, the spirit finds a male witch–one that just happens to be in love with Gabriella. Darron is more than willing to help but the two young witches will have way more to battle than just an evil warlock. There are overbearing jocks and petty rich girls who get tempers flaring and often set Gabrielle and Darron at odds.

There is more to the story than Gabrielle and Darron could even imagine. There are terrible secrets to be revealed, battles to be waged, and lives will be lost. Only after Gabrielle and Darron both come to terms with who they really are, and open themselves up to the true meaning of magick, can they have any hope of fulfilling their destiny.

 Destiny Unveiled
Available for only $3.99 for e-book version or $14.89 for print version on Amazon.

Gabriella and Darron thought their magickal battle was over when they defeated the evil warlock, Richard. When her Aunt Donna seeks Gabriella's help in rescuing her catatonic daughter from the Dark Coven, Gabriella discovers that her cousin holds a power within her that would be catastrophic in the hands of the evil witches. Gabriella's coven sets out on a journey that may be their last. Along the way, they meet new allies, face devastating treachery, and battle not only the Dark Coven, but the darkness within themselves. When Gabriella finally comes face to face with the cousin she never knew existed, her true destiny is unveiled, and the fate of the mortal world is in her hands.

Sibu Beauty Review & Giveaway

I am always looking for new skincare products that are made with natural ingredients. A new company I recently discovered, called Sibu Beauty, makes their products using Sea Buckthorn, which is a fruit that comes from high in the Himalayan mountains. With over 190 bioactive compounds, sea buckthorn is an unsurpassed source of Omegas 3, 6, and 9. And it's a rich source of the elusive essential fatty acid, Omega-7, an essential fatty acid vital to collagen production and healthy skin, hair and nails.

The wonderful folks at Sibu Beauty were generous enough to send me a few of their products to test. I  loved the feel of the Nourishing Facial Cream. Its so silky and smooth. You will notice a difference as soon as it touches your skin. It rubs in easily, leaving behind no films or greasy residue, and it leaves your skin rose-petal soft. The scent is light and not overpowering. It is great for all skin types. To compliment, try the Replenishing Night Cream for the same results in your evening regimen.

The Cleanse and Detox Facial Soap was wonderful too.  It foams up nicely and leaves your skin feeling clean and firm. When used in combination with the  creams, your skin will be fresh and rejuvenated after just a few uses. All of their products are made with pure essential oils which really brings the life back into your skin and makes you feel years younger. Skin will  feel softer and will just seen to glow after just a few applications. The Seed Oil also offers the advantages of helping to clear up acme, eczema and other minor skin irritations with just a few drops, helping your skin stay healthy and glowing all year long.

I also received the Sea Bucktorn Liquid Supplement. Just drunk 1-3 ounces a day and in no time, you'll see a huge difference in your skin, hair and nails. The hair is shinier and growing faster.  Then nails don't crack and chip as easily, and my skin has a healthy glow.  And don't worry, it tastes great too, sort of like fruit juice.
These are only a few examples of the amazing products you can find at Sibu Beauty. They have products for all skin types and even restorative products to help turn back the clock. They even have haircare and nail strengthening products. All their products are 100% safe for the earth as well as your skin, and of course they are cruelty free. Sibu Beauty skincare products would make a great gift or a fun personal indulgence. Check them out today and pamper your skin while pampering the earth.

One lucky winner is going to receive all the same products I received to review.  To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below.  This giveaway will end on 8/27/12. Open to the US & Canada only. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to  Sibu for offering this fantastic prize.

Environmental changes including the transitioning of seasons can do a number on the skin. We prep and cleanse with scrubs, moisturizers and a variety of skin treatments - but what about our scalp?Fluctuations in temperature, excessive styling and stress all attribute to thinning hair. According to WebMD.com, a major development as of late has been the application of skin care ingredients to hair care.Peptides, for example, provide extra conditioning and make the hair shaft stronger by depositing a shield on the shaft.
Keranique’s new 8-Day Intensive Scalp Treatment uses the science of skin care to help stimulate and rejuvenate the scalp, creating healthy conditions for hair to grow. This intensive, leave-in scalp therapy features the highest recommended concentration of a clinical strength, patented peptide to help strengthen and “anchor” the hair at the root. It also helps reduce DHT on the scalp, stimulate skin proteins, and reduce scalp irritation to support thicker, healthier hair as it grows. Results can be seen in just 8 days.

Peppermint oil has been used for centuries to cure a number of medical issues including stomach ailments, cold symptoms and headaches. This powerful ingredient also helps to enhance hair and scalp health.
Keranique has incorporated peppermint oil into its new volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The ingredient works to gently moisturize the hair shaft while stimulating micro-circulation and new hair growth. A tingling, cooling effect occurs when peppermint oil is massaged into the scalp, helping to balance the PH levels and banish oily hair – and the fresh, invigorating scent of peppermint will last all day!
The Keranique Volumizing Shampoo gently deep cleans, stimulates/nourishes the scalp and follicles, and removes oil/build up that drags hair down. The shampoo is free of sulfates, parabens and synthetic fragrances. $35
The Keranique Volumizing Conditioner coats the hair to make each strand thicker and protects fine hair with a unique cream-gel formula that doesn’t weigh it down. It is also formulated to help hydrate and stimulate micro-circulation around the hair follicle to help nourish the hair. The conditioner’s blend of technologies penetrates each hair shaft to help smooth cuticles, mend split ends and decrease hair breakage. $35

Back to School Must Have - Pure Ice Crackle Nail Enamel

When it comes to back to school shopping, tweens and teens don't make it easy. I remember the days when my oldest child would wake up and get excited about erasers and book bags. Now she rolls her eyes, and tells me she's not a baby anymore. Its all about the clothes and accessories these days. From the name brand jeans to the most stylish nail colors.  I found exactly the right polish for my daughter at Bari Cosmetics. Their beauty products, including lotions, nail polish, and other sparkly goodies are perfect for teens and tweens and adults alike, as we all prepare for the upcoming back to school season.

For our review, we got to try out the Pure Ice Crackle Nail Polish, which is something that was been on my daughter's wish list for awhile. I have seen the white crackle, but Pure Ice has taken the crackle magic to a whole new level. The variety we received is a sparkling green base. You add to that a silver top coat that cracks as it dries. The result is a stunning variation of a new favorite. My daughter absolutely loved the colors. Its also quick drying and long lasting. Her fingers stayed painted about a week, and her toes still look freshly painted after two weeks.

The Pure Ice crackling nail polish is only one example of the fun and stylish accessories you can find at Bari. They also offer nail softener, nail clippers, lotions, and hundreds of of other color selections for nail polish. You can find Bari products in stores nationwide including Walgreens and Walmart. To learn more about the products available, you can visit their website. To keep up with new products and promotions, be sure to follow them on face book or twitter. This Back to School Season  help your kids sparkle with the fabulous beauty products available from Bari Cosmetics.

My Thoughts

I was lucky enough to try out two of the products in the Skinnygirl line and I am totally hooked. The first thing tried was the  face & body tinted daily moisturizer. This is the perfect way to keep your skin healthy despite the elements.  The cream goes on smoothly and does not leave behind any sticky residues. It leaves your skin feeling firm and taunt, but still moisturized and soft. Because it has SPF included, you don't have to worry about greasy sunblocks when you are heading out to the park with the kids.  But the thing that makes this lotion different than the rest, is that they added a slight tint. When you apply the lotion, it adds just a hint of color without making you look made up.  Its the perfect way to keep that healthy glow all year long. And at only $10.99, its an affordable skincare option.

I also tried the Mommy Cool Your Feet Spray. This product is like a quick and easy pedicure in a bottle. Just spritz in it on your feet and the power of aloe, cucumber, and peppermint instantly goes to work. The peppermint will leave your skin tingling, the aloe makes them rose petal soft, and the cucumber keeps them smelling fresh. No stinky, sweaty summer feet for you if you take advantage of this product. The combination of the three key ingredients leaves your feet feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

ENJOY Summer Refresh Hair Care Review & Giveaway

Summer is a busy time of year, and its easy to let little things, like proper haircare, get pushed to the sidelines. Its easy to grab that discount shampoo at the grocery store while you're buying hotdogs and rolls for your barbeque. But summer is one of the times when your hair needs the most protection. Chlorine and salt water can leave behind greasy build ups. And the hours in the hot sun can leave your hair feeling dry and damaged. Luckily, Enjoy has developed a line of hair care products to keep your hair looking shiny and healthy all summer long.

ENJOY Clarifying Spray - a one of a kind spray-in clarifying and chelating formula designed to remove mineral deposits, product build up, chlorine and other impurities in the hair. A must have for swimmers! Great for hard water areas and medication build up, it’s color safe for all hair types. 10oz pump spray bottle - $18.64 (USD)

ENJOY Sulfate Free Shampoo - Gently eliminates build up without stripping the hair color. Cleanse Sensor® Technology insures proper cleansing of the hair and scalp. Color safe for all hair types. Gives hair strength, smoothness, shine, frizz control and volume with incredible manageability. This supersized 33oz bottle retails for $40.64(USD). (NOTE: ENJOY sent 33oz shampoos and I don’t have a picture of the larger size. The photo attached shows the 10oz bottle)

ENJOY Hair Mask – Intensive smoothing mask for enriching dry and unruly hair.  Leaves hair soft, silky and easy to manage. For an intense treatment, cover hair with a plastic bag and apply heat for 20 minutes. 8oz tube - $27.44 (USD)

ENJOY Conditioning Spray – Leave it in or rinse it out. Detangles while providing protection and moisture without weighing the hair down. Excellent for frizz control with a low pH of 3.5-4.5. Closes the cuticle and locks in color.  Excellent for reactivating curls or product on dry hair and is recommended for all hair types. 10oz size - $20.84(USD)

I have been using this selection of products for a few weeks now, and I have noticed a big difference in my hair. With almost daily visits to beaches and pools, my tween daughter and I have both noticed a build up and our hair looking dry and damaged on the ends.  After using these products regularly, that has all changed. There is no more greasy feel to our hair and its looks shiny and healthy. You'd think high quality salon products such as these would cost a fortune, as they are actually very affordable and come in huge bottles that should last well through the summer.  To find a salon near you that sells these amazing products, you can check their store locator of their website.

One lucky winner is going to receive one of each of the Enjoy products listed above. To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway will end on 7/22/12 and is open to the US only. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to Enoy for offering this fantastic prize.

Our Thoughts

I wash my hands a lot. I have two kids in diapers, a dog and a cat to clean up after, and at least once a day I have to pick up something that is no longer identifiable.  If I'm going to wash my hands umpteen times a day, I want to use a soap that is gentle on my skin and leaves them smelling like I just came from the spa.  Because lets face it, my hand soap is the closest I'll be getting to a spa until my two little ones start school.  The Wash Your Hands of It Liquid hand soap was the perfect choice for me. It smells lovely, lathers nicely, and gives me a few seconds of much needed indulgence. As you can imagine, washing your hands so many times a day can leave them dry and cracked. Luckily, this adorable set also comes with a companion hand lotion that smells just as nice and leaves your skin feeling soft and healthy. I don't usually have time to go looking for lotions, so having the two bottles together in the fashionable silver tone caddy is not only convenient, it also adds it a little dash of style to any bathroom.
